JAINISM-BASIC 9 TATVA OF JAINISM WITH BOAT AS AN EXAMPLE-------!!!

It was my first attendance to current year's summer camp for kids.
The lecturers were learned Swadhayee from Rajasthan with a good study materiel based on Jainism. I found it very easy to understand even for kids. Hence sharing it with  blog readers for easy grasping.
The lecturer started the subject. " Dear kids today, I will discuss here
very basic concept with you. To understand Jainism, this is first basic lesson. I will try to explain the nine basics of it by a picture, It is only for preliminary introduction. When you grow, can cover details. It is most important topic. All items visible or invisible of universe are being covered by it. On search ,one can conclude that nothing is left.

Please carefully watch the picture- assume. Mr. X is leaving in  city
named A and wish to reach a distant city  as Z. He is using a boat for journey. A city represents domestic life while city Z being  salvation.
Mr. X is a living soul (Jeeva) while boat is a non living ( Ajeeva).

Sooth sailing will be due to good fortune ( Punya ) while the facing cyclones or hitting rock is out of bad deeds ( Paap). Hitting on rock caused hole in boat. The hole is allowing water to come inside boat. Such incoming is termed as "Aasarva".The sailor closes the hole so as to prevent further water coming in. His religious actions are called
as "Sanwar". It prevents more bad Karmas to attach with soul. The sailor also tries to throw so far accumulated water out for cleaning .

The cleaning  of boat is "Nirjara".The water made his body wet and dirty. It is "Bandh". With much efforts, he can clean and dry  body and throw entire water out of boat and reach at bank of dream city Z.
On reaching the destination, get down from boat at bank of-- Z city. Leaving boat and entire cleaning suggests that, he has cleared all good deeds and bad deeds before arriving at destination Z Moksha.
He stands up on bank for a moment .Delighted with the thought of entering entire new world. As a custom the citizens of city Z do not wear clothes, Automatically he gave up clothes means body and organ Now Mr. X's pure body enters city Z It is Moksha / salvation.

Hope you have understood the basics. Now I invite your comments or question. I request you to take it as preliminary study. On growing up you can study each chapter " The lecturer concluded. I thanked all of them for such marvelous job for society and coming generation

JAINISM--9 TYPES OF PUNYA- (GOOD DEEDS).--------!!!

In my spare time I was going through Jain literature. The chapter was related to Nine Tatvas. Out of it earlier, I have covered eighteen sin I thought to cover nine Punya in this blog. So here is the brief. Sins is
as paying interest on overdraft and Punya is getting interest on F.D.
While sufferings is punishment for sins. comfort and inner peace is
a reward of Punya. It may be accumulated or current earned. Aagam
"Sthnang" 09/676 Bhagwan Mahaveer  has described  nine "Punya". It is also covered in 14th Bol from 25 Bol in  115 Bhed of Ninetatva,
So far we have studied layers of various Karma's attached to soul. Additions of sin ( Paap) on it, is negative coverage, while additions of good deed ( Punya)  is positive coverage. Both give all together
different results. One add comforts, second makes any life miserable.
For salvation soul of  individual needs clearing of both layers. Such cleaning is termed as "Nirjara". Fast, Samaik etc. are cleaning tools.
Both those layers are being represented by our "Karman body". On salvation soul leaves physical and Karman body for ever. Body less soul gets permanent place at " Siddhasheela" being top of universe. Such soul never required to take birth again in any of four Gatis.
After this preliminary introduction let us see these nine components
of good deeds, Out of 9,first five needs parting with material things, while remaining 4 needs involvement of soul only. These all can be  achieved with good intentions, good words and services to needy. As a fact the charity made when you have less resource with increasing needs are close to our hearts. Charity made with ample money add a sense of name fame, status feeling some corner in sub cautious mind.

1-Anna (food)- Punya- It relates arranging food for needy or monks.
At times of famine noble people open "Annachatra" for needy people Gochari of approved food to Jain monks is a best form of Punya.
2-Paan (water)--   Punya-It relates to arrangement of water to needy. It can also cover arrangement of it for birds or animal. In modern age now money can buy bottled water. Up to 1990 era I have seen elders people at railway or bus station offering cold water to travelers free of cost. Now even in interior parts people building "Pyau" water tank to take care of drinking water through year with a clean surrounding.
3-Layan ( space ) Punya-It relates to offering space for stay either
temporary or permanently. Offer of own land to be used as a temple, Sthanak. hospital. school, etc. are also falls under this category.
4-Shayan (sleep) Punya-It cover providing tools necessary for sleep.
5-Vastra- (cloth) Punya-It cover provision of clothes to monk needy.
6-Maan - ( mind)  Punya-It covers well wishes for all living souls.
7-Vachan (speech) Punya-It covers good talk for all the living souls.
8-Kaya (body)---- Punya-It covers free services offered using body.
9-Namaskar (bowing down)-It covers appreciation of good deeds or good action or good thoughts of all by offering them our respect .If we recite Navkar Mantra. It  can add two benefits-Punya and Nirjara. Bowing down to Panch Parmesthi is a great tool of Nirjata forever.
Last four Punya needs no material resource, Thinking good for all
living. offering service to sick ,bowing down to seniors and talented
people and using sweet language can add to the good deeds .Most important part of real Punya is backing of willingness. One cannot
earn it for his lost purse or done by force or ritual performances.

If one is arranging eligible food, clothes, tools and place of shelter
for Jain monk ,he is adding to Punya and reduction of sins-Nirjara.
For other it is only Punya. Thus it underline importance of receiver

One thing must be noted for doing good deeds. It must be backed by good intentions and without any self interest or motive. All actions must be originated from pure. holy and auspicious thoughts. Punya ,do not offer salvation. It creates positive circumstances which can offer a individual ,tension free life so that he can have maximum free time to be engaged in "Nirjara" or religious deeds, activities .One can get favors of  forty two types out of Punya deeds results.
If blessed with all favors, still a person decides to live a simple life style, it means he is adding over good deeds without consuming old
balance. Majority of such balance is being utilized in life when one gets birth as a heavenly god due to lavish life style prevailing there.

Such deeds are difficult to build but can be faced at ease and with happiness. While engaging in good deeds, indirectly we are making favor to our own self. In it's absence, we find difficult to cope with circumstances. Let us try to build it in all possible manner .But our priority must be Nirjara. It only can lead to salvation. Interesting to
note that balance of Punya is not net out from balance of Paap. If

one is doing Punya out of money earned from sinful ways, it cannot
reduce the sins committed. One must avoid wrong earnings .If one
is trying to give sugarcoating to sins by doing Punya, it must be
avoided. Better one shall live simple life with honest earning. If one
could not do Punya at least do not commit sins. I heard stories some trustees or cashier engaged in wrongful use of  temple trust money.
One must take care to check beneficiary's future conduct out of the
sources used. The contribution should not fall into wrong hands
with wrong aims. If it happens sins of all subsequent actions will be
in account of donors.18 sins+ 15 Karmadan must not be generated.
Another important issue need to observe is of total secrecy. It was
said in older days that left hand should not know what right hand
has gifted.See if publicity or photography can be avoided. Have a
firm faith that your "Karman " body has a best micro censor than
any human camera will be able to catch. Be take care to have it.
